NIK AZIZ WELCOMES SEVERE PUNISHMENT FOR DUMPING BABIES

Kota Bharu : Menteri Besar Kelantan Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has welcomed the capital punishment proposed for dumping babies. The PAS spritual adviser said such punishment was in line with the teachings of Islam that forbids such heinous activities. " I agree with the severe punishment proposed for dumping babies which has become rampant, " he told reporters in response to the goverment's proposal to punish offenders with the death sentence for abandoning of babies.

The cabinet had agreed to a proposal by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry that those who abandoned babies resulting in death, should be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, for Murder. Nik Aziz said since the current law was 'sympathetic' towards the offenders, such cases have become rampant.

Nice to meet you all in this blog. Well, as usually i am here because i want  to inform a little about this topic.Hopefully, this information will be something good for our.

Last week, i read some article about baby abandonment and that is what i can take note.

Usually, UNICEF Malaysia has been taking care of media reports about the about the abandonment of baby and be unwanted teenage pregnancies. This generates many questions about several ways to take causes of the problem.

The convention on the Rights of the child was that children have nights and responsibilities suitable to their level and age of development. The comunity that is caring with them should do what is best for them.

According to the Convention, we should get ready to take care of children, teenager or the dumping of baby.

                       Firstly, we must underline the issue of reason many teenagers are being pregnant. This time they have peer pressure, adult hope and controlling of media. They are highly exposed to risky ways not allowed pregnancies and others. So, to prevent this problem, we must guarantee that boys know about gender education and respect for women and girls.

                     Secondly, the services to support girls and boys should be available to prevent or decrease the unwanted pregnancies. Young girls need guidance from counselor on manner to manage their condition. So they can further studies without thinking hard about that problems.

   

                   Last but not least, teenagers should know about options and services. Parents and teachers should have responsibilities to make teenagers have skill-based learning and the best knowledge to get right choice.

 So, what about we? What we should to do? Hurm......think about it. :) 

HELP DISTRESSED PREGNANT WOMEN

KUALA LUMPUR: Reach out to distressed pregnant women instead of using capital punishment against those who dump unwanted babies, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

“If we do not help them and resort to punishing them, then we are treating women who abandoned their babies as criminals,” he said.

Dr Chua said if capital punishment is introduced, it could force women to commit other drastic crimes such as burying the babies alive to conceal their wrongdoings.

“If society does not reach out to the pregnant women, they would have no choice but to hide, abandon or bury their babies alive,” he said after chairing the MCA central committee meeting at Wisma MCA yesterday.

Women, Family and Community Develop­ment Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said on Thursday the Cabinet had agreed to her ministry’s proposal that anyone whose baby died after being dumped could be tried for murder and sentenced to death.

Concern: Shahrizat taking a closer look at four-day-old Liya Marissa Mohd Huzaiba at the maternity ward of Kuala Lumpur Hospital Friday. Dr Chua said a baby hatch for mothers to leave their newborn for adoption would be a better alternative.

“You need a centre to provide counselling. It can also be a channel for people to adopt abandoned babies,” he said.

Meanwhile, Shahrizat said three more cases of babies being abandoned were reported, one each in Kelantan, Malacca and Kuala Lumpur, besides the 60 cases reported to the ministry so far.

She said the authorities must view baby dumping seriously because it was becoming rampant.

“Do not take such cases lightly,” she said after visiting the maternity ward of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital yesterday.

She added that parents should not blame others if their daughters became pregnant but instead support them in times of distress.

She urged those with problems, especially youngsters who conceive out of wedlock, to contact the Nur 1599 hotline for assistance and counselling.

At another function, the prime minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said local universities should conduct comprehensive studies on rampant baby dumping in the country to check the problem.

“If we know why this problem happens, then we’ll be in a better position to take appropriate measures to overcome it,” she said.

Speaking to reporters after talking over the phone with 1Malaysia Putra Club chairman Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim on the humanitarian aid mission to Gaza, Rosmah said parents should also spend more time with their children and be aware of their development and movements.

THE WELFARE DEPARTMENT

This article i take at News Street Times. This article is about The Welfare Department at Bukit Mertajam. The Welfare Department is looking for the parents or family members of three unclaimed newborn babies at Seberang Jaya Hospital and private clinic in Juru. It's Seberang Prai Tengah Children Protection officer, Mohd Zarir Mohd Khozali, said the babies two female and a male were not claimed after being born. One of the babies is 3 month old Muhammad Muaz, believered to be the child of a myanmar couple. He was abondoned after he was born at a private clinic in Juru on April 16. The department later took charge of the baby before naming him.

The other baby is child of an Indonesian woman, identified as Retro Asih, who gave birth on June 30 at Seberang Jaya Hospital. Zarir said the third baby was a 3 month old girl whose mother was identified as Zainab Wa Daud, 26. She delivered the baby at the same hospital on April 16, but refused to claim the baby after being discharged. Zainab's last known address was No 12B, Kampung Ulu Tawar, Baling, Kedah. Zarir said the babies were referred to the department after attempts to locate the parents proved futile. He said the babies would be placed under the care of the Taman Bakti Children Home in Kepala Batas for 30 days. The department will proceed to arrange for adoption if the babies parents or relatives failed to claim them after one month, in accordance with the Child Act.

BODY OF NEWBORN BABY GIRl FOUND IN GARBAGE BIN

This time is about the body of newborn baby girl discovered in a garbage bin. It happened in Kuala Lumpur. The baby was found inside a garbage bin outside the Sri Kelantan Flats, Bandar Baru Sentul. The baby was discovered is a baby girl. The body with the umbilical cord still intact was wrapped in cloth and a plastic bag. The people discovered the baby said, "while he was scouring the area for recyclable material, he stumbled upon and odd looking plastic package and upon opening it found the baby". He urged thise with information on the matter to contact the police.

STUDENTS FINDS BABY AT ROADSIDE

The new news about baby abondonment happened at Sabak Bernam. The news was on 6 august 2010. The baby discovered by a Sabak Bernam Polytechnic student and his girlfriend at 9 pm. 

The baby was found in a box left at the roadside in Sungai Besar here on wednesday night. The baby was a 7 day old baby, with the umbilical cord still attached. The student was from Sabak Bernam Polytechnic brought the baby back to his house in Bandar Baru Bangi before his auntie lodged a police report. 

District police chief Superitendent Noor Mushar Mohamad said police would interview the student to get additional information apart from finding out why he did not immediately lodge a police report..

Hello everyone !! do you know about baby abondonment among teenagers in Malaysia? I know the problems of to are very serious among teenagers. Everyday, there are many reports about baby abondonment writen in newspapers. I don't know how the teenagers to undertake do it. 

For your information, this problem has increased from time to time. This problems also happen among primary school student. I think baby abondonment happens because of social problems among teenagers today. Their parents and teachers shouldnt be blamed a hundred percent but this problems should be taken serious from others society like NGO, goverment and so on. 

I think. the baby abondonment is the serious problem if we do not take responsibility to our generation..
