THE WELFARE DEPARTMENT

This article i take at News Street Times. This article is about The Welfare Department at Bukit Mertajam. The Welfare Department is looking for the parents or family members of three unclaimed newborn babies at Seberang Jaya Hospital and private clinic in Juru. It's Seberang Prai Tengah Children Protection officer, Mohd Zarir Mohd Khozali, said the babies two female and a male were not claimed after being born. One of the babies is 3 month old Muhammad Muaz, believered to be the child of a myanmar couple. He was abondoned after he was born at a private clinic in Juru on April 16. The department later took charge of the baby before naming him.

The other baby is child of an Indonesian woman, identified as Retro Asih, who gave birth on June 30 at Seberang Jaya Hospital. Zarir said the third baby was a 3 month old girl whose mother was identified as Zainab Wa Daud, 26. She delivered the baby at the same hospital on April 16, but refused to claim the baby after being discharged. Zainab's last known address was No 12B, Kampung Ulu Tawar, Baling, Kedah. Zarir said the babies were referred to the department after attempts to locate the parents proved futile. He said the babies would be placed under the care of the Taman Bakti Children Home in Kepala Batas for 30 days. The department will proceed to arrange for adoption if the babies parents or relatives failed to claim them after one month, in accordance with the Child Act.
